My name is Hailey McGonigal and I am the face behind Hailey Edits! My goal is to help you bring your writing to life and become publishing ready. My background was not originally in editing, however i’ve always loved writing and fell in love with helping writers bring their stories to readers around the world.

Education and Certifications

I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and am currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Strategic Communication from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

I have received my certification in Book Editing in Publishing from ELVTR taught by Julia Wallace of Penguin Random House. Next, I will be working towards a certification in Book Publicity in November 2025.

Experience

I am a new editor, however, I have had a passion for writing my whole life and have years of experience in creative writing, including fiction and poetry, as well as much experience writing academic papers, such as scientific research papers, press releases, speeches, and many other essays throughout my time in school.

Skills

Due to my educational background, I am skilled in many styles of writing, including, Chicago, APA, AP, and MLA format. Therefore, I can be of help in a multitude of areas ranging from book editing to academic essays.

My skills include developmental editing, line editing, copy editing, proof-reading, editorial assessment, and query letter revision.

Genre Expertise

My genre of expertise is fiction, including romance, fantasy, and mystery, however, I am open to editing a wide range of genres and topics.
